If you’re inclined to grieve right now, please grieve. Let the deep, sacred waters of grief keep moving through.
If you can weep, by all means weep. If you can’t, please know that the weepers are weeping your tears too.
If you find yourself infected with fear, please tend to it. Be quiet and turn towards it with love. Fear appears as an indomitable beast, growing larger and fiercer the more that we feed it.
It preys on our vulnerabilities and thrives on scary thoughts, future thoughts, worry and confusion. It’s easily passed from friend to friend, from parent to child, from writer to reader., from leader to leader.
Given the chance, fear spreads like wildfire, creating toxic landscapes within us and around us.
And yet fear is no match for the Stillpoint, ever-present here and now.
Fear is not the opposite or enemy of love, as I see it.
Fear is a signpost, a gateway, a blatant indication of where Love is most called for.
If you notice old trauma is triggered within you, in this huge, colossal mess of a moment, please know you are not alone. Our entire world is in a trauma response.
If you feel overwhelmed, consumed, or painfully regressed, please be ever-kind to yourself. Ask for help in all the ways you know how to do.
These are grief-inspiring times, and our tears are wildly appropriate and necessary.
These are fear-inducing times, and our vigilance has never been more important.
These are re-traumatizing times, and we can all use a little help.
I have cried more tears in the last few weeks then I have in a very long time. I was infected with fear, and then spread it to my children, and have had to work diligently ever since to cleanse us all.
I am being schooled at a whole new level on how to work directly and intimately with fear as it arises within me. In this I’ve been required to work with layers of unresolved trauma inside myself that I didn’t even know existed.
Our pain is not a sign that we are weak or flawed. Our pain is a sign that we are paying close attention in painful times.
Your willingness to grieve, to truly meet your fear, to heal your heart open wider is a courageous act of faith and responsibility.
Your suffering and mine, when consciously tended to, leads the way to deeper freedom for us all.
Love is real. Love is a given. Sanity is here. Stillness is a choice.
May we choose carefully and wisely.
I love you.
